Israel’s Christian Citizens Deserve to Be Heard in Their Own Words

August 2026 — A feature in Israel365 News highlighted remarks by Israel’s Special Envoy to the Christian World, George Deek, about Christian Arabs who are proud to be Israeli. The subject challenges assumptions that Christian identity, Arab identity and Israeli civic belonging must be mutually exclusive.

Israel’s Christian citizens are diverse. They include Arabic-speaking communities, Hebrew-speaking Catholics and people whose family histories, languages and political views differ. Their experiences should not be reduced to a single narrative or treated as representative of every Christian in the region.

For Jewish-Christian relations, listening to these voices matters. Christian citizens can speak for themselves about their identity, opportunities, concerns and relationship with the state. Their testimony adds depth to conversations that too often discuss them without including them.

Support for Israel should include a commitment to the dignity and equal civic participation of its non-Jewish citizens. A Jewish state can recognize Jewish national self-determination while protecting the religious freedom and civil rights of minorities.

Christian friends of Israel can help by seeking out local voices, supporting community institutions and resisting simplistic claims about what Christians in the Holy Land believe.
