Christians and Jews United for Israel mourns the sudden loss of Pastor Roberto Miranda

Christians and Jews United for Israel mourns the sudden loss of Pastor Roberto Miranda of Boston's Congregation Lion of Judah. Pastor Miranda was a beloved pastor, a leader of leaders in the Christian community of New England, a dedicated supporter of Israel, and a true friend of CJUI.

Pastor Miranda began going to Israel in 2003, but it was on his third trip there with CJUI that support for Israel became an essential part of his overall mission. He began to teach about the significance of the Jewish State, hold annual events in support of Israel at his church, and lead members of his congregation on pilgrimages there. After his trip to Israel with CJUI, during which he met residents of Judea and Samaria, he gained a particular understanding of the importance of the biblical heartland. As he said, "The presence of Jewish pioneers staking a claim to their God-given land in Judea and Samaria is vital to defending important Biblical sites."

Pastor Miranda and the wonderful congregation of Lion of Judah hosted Christians and Jews United for Israel's "Genesis Awards" this past October and CJUI will forever be thankful for their steadfast support of CJUI and the State of Israel. In honor of the life and work of Pastor Miranda, Christians and Jews United for Israel is making a donation to help fund the publishing of his just completed book, "Vida por Diseno."

Here is the announcement from Congregation Lion of Judah, including information about the funeral service this Friday evening, May 27th. CJUI encourages everyone who has been touched by the life and example of this true friend of Israel to please honor his memory by attending the service. Dr. Roberto S. Miranda, the beloved Senior Pastor of the Congregation Lion of Judah for nearly 40 years, passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, May 21. He was accompanied by his wife of 38 years, Mercedes (“Meche”) Lopez-Miranda, when Pastor Roberto went on to be with the Lord. The funeral service, celebrating the life of Pastor Roberto, will take place Friday, May 27, in the main sanctuary of Lion of Judah at 20 Reed Street, Boston, MA. The sanctuary will be open for public visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a “home-going service” at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Roberto’s burial, Saturday, May 28, will be limited to immediate family. We covet your prayers for Pastora Meche; for their daughters, Sonia and Abigail; for their grandchildren, Caleb, Eliza, and Daniella; and for Pastor Roberto’s sisters and brothers. We also ask that you pray for the Congregación León de Judá, this beautiful church family into which Pastor Roberto poured his life, and must now set out on the future God has for us without him. More information regarding Pastor Roberto’s legacy is available on Religion News Service.
